To create the floral components, here’s what they ordered: Yellow Football Mum Flower (60 stems), Light Orange Carnations (150 stems), Willow Seeded Eucalyptus Greenery (5 bunches), Willow Fresh Eucalyptus Greenery (5 bunches), Feverfew Daisy Wholesale Cut Flower (10 bunches), Italian Ruscus Greenery (5 bunches), and Yellow Ranunculus (50 stems).
What Laney (MOH) created: 1 bridal bouquets, 5 bridesmaids’ bouquets, 6 boutonnieres, 22 centerpieces, and 1 other arrangement!

Q: What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
A: The most memorable part of the wedding for me was the first dance. David and I decided long before the wedding that we wanted to do something fun for our first dance, so we learned the choreography to Beyonce’s “Love on Top” and added our own spin to it. We kept it a secret from everyone (besides my roommate) so it came as quite the surprise! Just before getting on the dance floor I whispered to David, “I don’t remember a single thing…” to which he responded, “Neither do I. I’m banking on muscle memory.”
Q: What attracted you to your theme/color palette?
A: From childhood until now, my favorite color has always been yellow. Throughout the years, my bedroom walls have seen various shades of yellow, anywhere from bright and sunny to pale and soft. It’s a cheerful, carefree color that always makes me smile. I didn’t care what time of the year I was getting married, there would be yellow flowers. I very quickly decided on green as the compliment to yellow, mostly because I like it as well, but also because I thought it would cultivate a natural springtime feel.
The following answers are from Laney Ticknor, sister of the bride and Matron of Honor (she was in charge of the flowers.)
Q: What do you wish you would have known prior to DIYing your wedding flowers?
A: I felt quite prepared for doing flowers, as I’ve had some experience with them. We were working with Feverfew and I wish I had known that this specific flower needs water constantly. It was delicate and held up just as nicely as the other flowers while in water, but if they didn’t have water they wilted fast and looked very sad. If I had known this I would have made use of some water tubes or not used them at all outside of water.
Q: Do you have any advice for a bride-to-be who is interested in DIYing their wedding flowers?
A: It takes a lot of work, it’s definitely a time commitment to build that into your preparations. Have plenty of buckets so the flowers can recover from traveling to you without crowding amongst each other. Make sure to remove any greens that are in and close to the water – this keeps it looking professional and the leaves that fall below water level can cause bacteria which might shorten the life of the flowers! It is helpful to have a recipe for the bouquets and arrangements so you don’t end up short or over with flowers, also this helps to not get too overwhelmed with each arrangement. Less is more! IE – less variety of flowers and more of the flowers you choose.
